In a deeply disturbing incident from Surat’s Dindoli area, a 35-year-old school teacher allegedly poisoned his two sons—aged 7 and 2—before dying by suicide after discovering his wife’s alleged extramarital affair, police said on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Alpeshbhai Kantibhai Solanki, worked as a physical education teacher. He was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence, while his two children lay unresponsive nearby. An empty bottle of rat poison and a soda bottle were recovered at the scene.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh Gurjar confirmed that Solanki’s wife, Phalguni, and her alleged lover, Naresh Kumar Rathod, have been detained following revelations made in Solanki’s suicide note and two detailed diaries found in his bag.

“In his note, Solanki accused his wife of having an affair with Naresh Kumar Rathod. He mentioned being under severe mental distress and stated that he had tried to speak with both of them, but when nothing changed, he decided to take this drastic step,” DCP Gurjar said.

The diaries reportedly contained details about his personal life, his children, and a timeline of the events that led to the alleged extramarital affair. One diary was specifically dedicated to documenting his wife’s actions, while the other referenced his family members.

Police are continuing the investigation, and both Phalguni and Rathod remain in custody for further questioning.
